Creators are now revealed! You may now go forth and post about your gifts non-anonymously (eg. on your own blog), edit your username into your gifts, add them to non-anonymous collections, and so on. If you post a treat into the collection (open until the end of the month), your username will show up right away instead of being anonymous for a while.

Thank you again to all of our participants and especially our pinch hitters!

Since people are starting to post their gifts here on Tumblr, we’re going to reblog them! We’re queuing them up so we don’t suddenly turn your dashboards into a wall of Loyalty Missions, and starting with things we’re @ tagged in before venturing into other Mass Effect tags, nut feel free to flick us a link if you think we’ve missed you.

Note for Dreamwidth followers: This will unfortunately be a Tumblr only thing, as our auto import method apparently doesn’t like text formatting, links, or images, and reblogs may come out of the queue at a time none of us are around to tidy up the Dreamwidth crosspost.

Gifts are revealed! Congratulations to everyone who participated and a special thank you to our pinch-hitters! Please go forth and enjoy the collection! And remember, we will still be accepting treats through the end of the month, so feel free to submit any additional treats until then! Hi anon! You’re not being pushy and you didn’t read that wrong; unfortunately we’re still waiting on a gift and we are not going to reveal until everyone has something just for them.

To that effect, please contact us non-anon (e-mail, Discord PM Caryl, or DW PM) if you’re capable of writing/drawing something F/F today. We've got someone, thank you!

Due to some confusion and the low submissions so far, we are extending the due date for assignments to the end of November 7th PST (ie. 11:59PM). (Happy N7 Day!) Here is a live countdown.

Some reminders:

  • Please ensure your works are not Drafts when you submit, as the mods cannot see them (we do quick checks before approval into the collection to make sure you haven't blatantly included anything from your giftee's do not wants or otherwise against the rules). You can still edit once your gift's in the collection.
  • This is an anonymous exchange. Do not put your usernames in your gifts nor add them to series with non-anonymous creations. You are welcome to edit your usernames or links in after creators are revealed on the 16th.

If you've already submitted your gift, consider making someone a treat while you wait for reveals! These do not need to meet the word minimum (for fanfiction), track minimum (for fanmixes), nor minimum time (for fanvids, songs, and music), and may be as short or long as you like. You can find the request sheet here and more details on how to submit one here. (If you don't get a treat in before reveal time, the collection will remain open until the end of November.)

Loyalty Missions 2018 treat sheet:

loyalty-missions:

Up for making some treats? Here’s a spreadsheet of all requests and also nominated ships that weren’t requested!

This is sorted by ship on one sheet and by requester on the other. If you would like to sort by another factor such as game or ship type, you may either copy it to your own Drive or download it to sort as you wish.

If a requester’s name is in blue, this is linked to their letter, which may contain do not wants. Please check letters while planning your treats.

Don’t let the fact that a ship wasn’t requested put you off making it a treat: Every ship in this exchange was nominated because someone thought it should get some love. Sometimes people don’t end up signing up for the exchange, or they had so many ships they wanted to request that they had to remove some to get within our limit. There will still be people who would love your treat if you make something for an unrequested ship, so go forth and create!

So you’ve submitted. But you want to edit it, or you keep asking yourself if you filled it out right. It’s not showing up under your Works, which is frustrating. So how do you go back and check on it?

Step 1.

First, go to your works.

Step 2.

In there, you’ll see a button that says “works in collections” in the upper right hand corner. Click on it.

Step 3.

If the admins have approved it for the collection, you’ll see your work listed as such, even if the collection itself isn’t revealed. If it’s been a few days and you’re still not seeing it, give an admin a gentle nudge and ask them to look for it for you, which is a simple matter of approving it to the collection.

After reveals, the work still won’t show up in your works, not until the “author” reveals. So as long as that Anonymous stays there, you can find your work like this.

(via https://ift.tt/2DN67Fa)

Treats are extra gifts that are outside of your assignment. Say a prompt really catches your eye or a ship intrigues you and you want to make something, but it’s not your assignment. That’s what a treat is. We’re not stopping you. In fact, we encourage this!

There’s no limit to the amount of treats you can give (and they are not mandatory to give, either). Unlike your assignment, you do not need to hit the minimum word or (for fanvids or music) time requirements, and they do not need to be in by the main gift due date of November 7th. Just stay respectful of your treat recipient’s Do Not Wants. You can also give one treat to multiple people if it fits!

So how does one go about submitting a treat?

Step 1.

Treats are a little harder in that you won’t have an easy, “take care of everything” button like you do when submitting assignments. To submit a treat, you have to go to the dashboard of the A03 exchange page. See that button that says “Post to Collection”? Click it.

Step 2.

This brings us back to a standard A03 submission page, only the Collection is already filled out for you (we don’t recommend searching for a collection yourself from a blank submission page, as most don’t show up on their own). From here, go ahead and input the username (or usernames) of who you want your treat to go to. Do not tick that it fulfills an open assignment, as this is for your actual assignment, not just anything going into the collection.

But what if you don’t have someone you want to gift the work to? Maybe a pairing no one requested but got nominated caught your eye, and you wanted to make something for them and submit to the collection. That’s okay, too! Then you leave that field blank, simple as that!

As mentioned previously, treats may be submitted any time before the collection closes (tentatively the end of November). Like assignments, it will appear as an anonymous gift until the works are revealed. If you submit a treat before the author/artist reveal, it will show the creator as anonymous, and you will find it on your Works in Collections page. If you submit after the author/artist reveal, it will show you as the creator at the time you post.

Same side note as with the assignment submissions: Please don’t check that your work is part of a series. That gives away the anonymous portion of the exchange.

(via https://ift.tt/2NOh0uO)
loyalty_missions: (Default)
We’ve been getting a good number of asks about how to exactly submit for the assignments and decided to make a visual guide for anyone with those questions.

Step 1.

In the corner of your dashboard, you should see a section that looks similar to this. You’ll want to click on the Assignment portion of this menu.

Step 2.

Once in the Assignment portion, you’ll see something similar to the picture. Click Fulfill to submit your assignment.

Step 3.

The standard submitting to A03 screen pops up. In the middle of it, you’ll find this section, where everything is already filled out for you. Then it’s as simple as hitting submit. You can do this at any time before the deadline. The work will then be sent to the admins to approve it and make sure it fits the guidelines listed for whatever form of gift you choose.

A side note: Please don’t check that your work is part of a series. This gives away the anonymous portion of the exchange.

Hiya! We’ve actually been getting this question a lot, so don’t feel like you’re alone in wondering. The reason a request might have two ships is because it’s the only way for A03 to allow someone to request 20 ships or because some people like to double up for organizational purposes. But that doesn’t mean you need to gift for both (though I’m sure your giftee won’t complain if you do).

TL;DR: You only need to gift for one ship, even if the request lists two.

Hi there! We’re happy to have you with us!

Treats may be gifted to multiple people if you like. All you have to do is add multiple people in the “gift this work to” option when you post.

Treats will be included in the collection tag.

The time limits which treats do not need to reach refer to the minimum time for fanvids, songs, and pieces of music - while fanvids, songs, and pieces of music produced as main gifts must be at least a minute long, fanvids, songs, and pieces of music made as treats can be shorter than this.

Treats may be submitted any time before the collection closes (tentatively the end of November). Like assignments, it will appear as an anonymous gift until the works are revealed. If you submit a treat before the author/artist reveal, it will show the creator as anonymous. If you submit after the author/artist reveal, it will show you as the creator at the time you post.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! Happy fanworks!

Nominations are closed - signups for Loyalty Missions are now open!

Submit the above linked form on AO3 requesting nominated ships you would like to create for and receive, and which medium(s) you would like to create or receive gifts in. These do not need to be the same; you may offer different ships and/or mediums to your requests, and different mediums for different ships.

Nominated ships can be found in the tag set or the spreadsheet, and should autocomplete when you start typing. Ships with characters separated by / are romantic and/or sexual; ships with characters separated by & are platonic.

If you’re requesting a ship with a Ryder sibling, this refers to the NPC Ryder who does not become Pathfinder, and having them become Pathfinder in your gift renders them ineligible.

For ease of matching, you must request at least five ships and offer at least three ships, and can request or offer up to twenty ships by putting two ships in each request/offer.

In the details field, you can optionally include anything you don’t want, general likes, prompt ideas, rating restrictions, etc. Except for the don’t wants, these are optional for the creator to follow. You can also link a letter on your blog or in a Google Doc with more information.

Prompt reminders:

You may not specify any customization for characters nor world states (except for ME3 endings) in your prompt, eg. stating a class for NPC Ryder, describing Hannah Shepard’s appearance, or choosing a background Shepard’s gender or pronouns. These will be removed from your signup if you include them.

You may not request sexual content for underaged characters.

If there is anyone you do not want to be matched with, please let the mods know.

As matching is done via AO3, an account is required to participate. If you don’t have an account, please contact the mods for an invite.

Not every MEA pairing involves a Ryder. When that happens, requesters aren’t allowed to dictate the gender of the Pathfinder Ryder. When NPC Ryder is involved in the pairing, the gender is specified in the nomination and thus okay, also making the Pathfinder Ryder’s gender a given. To put it in simpler terms: Non-Ryder + Non-Ryder=No Gender Requests For Pathfinder. NPC-Ryder + Non-Ryder=Opposite Gender For Pathfinder. Apologies for the confusion this late ruling has caused.

We’ve received some asks lately in regards to requesting a Shepard’s gender in this exchange and would like to address it.

This exchange began with the desire to create for ships not based around the player characters. Loyalty Missions was formed around the idea of not stressing about depicting someone else’s OC or world state, and we’d like to hold true to the heart of this exchange by enacting the following rule:

No World State Customization Requests Outside of Game Endings.

This applies to Shepards and Pathfinder Ryders as well as that would be a customization. We also believe in the creativity of the gifter. That being said, we would also like to include the rule of:

No Background Ships Unless It Was An Official Request.

To clarify, approved NPC ships for the exchange that the giftee asked for can also be in the background. That does not mean written in ships. Requests should not include written in ships. This also means background Shepards and Ryders should not be in any ships as they are not an NPC.

We understand that this decision might seem unpopular but we wish to stick to the original idea behind the exchange and this is how we best do that. There are other exchanges out there that allow such specific requests. If you wish to find some that better suit your needs, check out @bioticfox’s Mass Effect Calendar.

We apologize for the late addition to the rules. This is our first year running.

Thank you, anon, for bringing up world states. This falls under our “no customization” rule that we came up with after much deliberation. We apologize for the late entry into the exchange rules. Our stance is that the focus on this exchange is on the NPCs and not Shepard. The official Bioware novels and comics didn’t gender Shepard and maybe next year we’ll enact a rule of no gendered Shepards, but for now, it’s up to the creator’s discretion.
